California Water Plan - Groundwater Update 2013

Chapter 2 is a standalone report covering groundwater related information and data from the ten hydrologic regions and presents a Statewide summary of Groundwater Occurrence, Development, Use, Monitoring, Conditions, and Management through 2012.

Chapter 3 is a standalone report covering groundwater related information and data from the North Coast Hydrologic Region and presents a regional summary of Findings, Data Gaps, Recommendations, and Groundwater Occurrence, Development, Use, Monitoring, Conditions, and Management through 2012.

Chapter 4 is a standalone report covering groundwater related information and data from the San Francisco Bay Hydrologic Region and presents a regional summary of Findings, Data Gaps, Recommendations, and Groundwater Occurrence, Development, Use, Monitoring, Conditions, and Management through 2012.

Chapter 12 is a standalone report covering groundwater related information and data from the Colorado River Hydrologic Region and presents a regional summary of Findings, Data Gaps, Recommendations, and Groundwater Occurrence, Development, Use, Monitoring, Conditions, and Management through 2012.

Appendix A provides an overview of the methods and assumptions for the collection and reporting of data in the Groundwater Update 2013. Descriptions of the methods, assumptions, and potential limitations of the data provide a broader understanding of the data quality and help to guide appropriate use and interpretation of the data findings.

Appendix B provides the 10 hydrologic region maps with each basins priority as determined by the CASGEM Basin Prioritization process. Also included is a description of the processed used to determine the basins priority along with the scores for each of the 8 components for each basin. This version of the CASGEM Basin Prioritization was finalized June 2014.

Appendix C Provides two sets of date. Average annual groundwater supply and percentage of total supply met by groundwater and type of use by planning area and another by county (2005 – 2010).

Appendix D provides the results of voluntary survey that was conducted as part of California Water Plan Groundwater Update 2013 to be used to build an inventory of local conjunctive management operations and an overall assessment of conjunctive management operations in California.

Appendix E provides a technical memorandum that describes the data, assumptions, and methods used to analyze groundwater-level measurements, generate regional groundwater-level contour maps, and estimate the annual change in groundwater in storage within a groundwater basin or reporting area. For this analysis, custom geographic information systems (GIS) tools and workflows were developed and applied to groundwater-level data stored in the DWR Water Data Library (WDL).

Appendix F provides two reports on land subsidence. The first report was prepared by DWR to provide a statewide a summary and analysis of recent, historical, and potential land subsidence. The second report is from Luhdorff and Scalmanini Consulting Services and is a comprehensive statewide land subsidence report that also looks at historical and current processes and the relationships between land subsidence and groundwater pumping.
