California Center for Data Insights and Innovation
## About With the enactment of AB 172, the Center for Data Insights and Innovation (CDII) was established within California Health & Human Services Agency (CalHHS) on October 10, 2021. CDII was created through the merger of four component offices/committees within CalHHS: The Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects (CPHS), Office of Health Information Integrity (CalOHII), Office of Innovation (OI), and the Office of the Patient Advocate (OPA). Each component office possesses key data-sharing/governance-related operational units whose capabilities and experience are aligned with CDII strategic priorities. All four component offices continue to perform their existing statutory functions while expanding their scope to advance CDII’s projects and services. Combined with CDII’s data and engineering division, Insights Lab, CDII is establishing a standardized and reliable data-sharing infrastructure, providing CalHHS leadership with the tools to integrate CalHHS data sets, and fostering effective, equitable, and consistent data-driven decision-making. ## Guiding Principles **Mission Statement:** Improving the lives of all Californians by turning data into insights, knowledge, and equitable action. **Vision Statement:** To develop, support, and improve programs within California Health & Human Services Agency to be person-centered, equity-focused, and data-driven. **Data Strategy:** CDII drive insights, accessibility, sharing, and transformation for data across CalHHS and California. Through inter-departmental and external collaboration, data strategy includes developing a data driven ecosystem of products and services designed to improve data sharing and analytics processes for Agency. https://www.cdii.ca.gov/about/divisions/data-strategy
