California Water Rights LIST (Detail Summary List)

Application number is a unique water right number that identifies the water right record. Application number starts with a letter followed by minimum of six numeric characters with option for additional alpha-numeric characters. 
First letter indicates the type of water right.

Certification number assigned to registrations at issuance. 

Identification number given upon issuance of a water right Permit; also known as the permit number.

License number assigned to new licenses at issuance. 

Water right type indicates the type of water record it is. Currently there are 18 different types of water right types to identify the water record.

Water right status identifies the current status of the water right type. There are multiple water right statuses for each water right type.

Date used by the Division to establish priority for water allocation during dry years and/or water shortages. Earlier dates indicate “seniority” when determining curtailment of specific watersheds.

Date that a water right is physically/electronically received by the Division’s Records Unit. 

Date that the Division rejected the water right ID due to incomplete information, lack of appropriate fees, or policy-related restrictions (e.g. Fully Appropriated Stream) 

Date the application is physically received by the Division. Identical to “Receipt Date” field. 

Date that the Division’s Permitting section determines the water right ID meets all acceptance criteria and begins processing the application 

"Minor" project is a water right that does not involve direct diversion in excess of 3.0 cubic-feet per second or storage in excess of 200.0 acre-feet per year.  "Major" project is a water right that does involve direct diversion in excess of 3.0 cubic-feet per second or storage in excess of 200.0 acre-feet per year.

Indicates the total number of protests filed against the water right application.

Agent Name is a type of party in eWRIMS that represents the water right record and typically is the mail receiver to receive correspondences related to the water record. They may also report the annual water use report and receive the annual water use bill on behalf of the water right record. Agent could be identified as an individual, corporation or any other entities listed under the agent entity type.

Agent Entity Type identifies the type of entity the agent party is listed. Currently there are 12 different types of entity that identifies the party name.

Application Primary Owner identifies the main party listed on the water right record. They are typically responsible for the water right and are subject to providing the annual water use reports and paying the annual water use fees. 

Primary Owner Entity Type identifies the type of entity the primary owner party is listed. Currently there are 12 different types of entity that identifies the party name.

The maximum annual amount of water requested for diversion in any given year.

Face value amount is given in either acre-feet per year or cubic-feet per second.

Fee received indicates the one time fee amount received for the application filing by SWRCB.

Fee amount received by the Division’s file room, usually received in the form of a paper check (No electronic fees accepted for any water right other than Cannabis Registrations at this time) 

The maximum direct diversion rate requested upon filing an application.

Official mail receiver is designated by yes or no to identify the party who is the mail receiver to receive correspondences related to the water record. 

Count of number of Non-Primary Owner or Other Parties listed on the water right record

Effective date is the date of status of particular water right record. 

Status Update Date and Time is is logged when the party information related to the water right record has been updated.

Any of the beneficial uses listed under Sections 659-674 of Cal. Codes of Regs., title 23, article 2.

Indicates how a listed use under the water right was either included or removed.

For domestic use only, the total number of resdiences that will use or be served water under the water right. 

For domestic use only, if multiple residences, are they owned by separate individuals.

For municipal or domestic uses only, the total amount of water that will be used or be served to people under the water right.
